Mint (Mentha spp)

Mint (Mentha spp)

Mint leaves are used as an antispasmodic, choleretic, and sedative herbal drug. The choleretic effect of mint tea is due to the essential oil, but flavonoids probably also play a role. Peppermint tea is indicated for acute and chronic gastritis, enteritis, flatulence, and cholecystitis. It is also used as a sedative.

Mentha piperita leaves contain 0.5–4% of essential oil (the main components of which are menthol (30–80%), menthol esters, other monoterpenes; sesquiterpenes (3.4–4.5%)); tannins, acid rosemary and caffeic acid derivatives are also present.

Mint leaves have a characteristic penetrating odour and fragrant taste.

Mint is an ingredient of tasty and useful aromatic tea blends for daily use, produced by Antea: “Обідня насолода”/ “Dinner pleasure”, “Джерело краси”/ “Source of beauty”, ”Чоловіча сила”/ “Man’s strength” (75 g, 125 in a linen bag and wooden tube).
