Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare)

Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare)

Tansy flowers have anthelmintic and bacteriostatic effects; their anthelmintic activity is directed against roundworms – the causative agents of ascariasis (human roundworm infection) and enterobiosis (disease caused by pinworms).

Experimental data indicate that tansy essential oil provides a pronounced convulsive effect, which is considered to be the cause of neutralization of helminths, in particular roundworms, in the gastrointestinal tract with their subsequent excretion. It is prescribed for diseases of the stomach (gastritis with low acidity, achylia gastrica), intestines (enterocolitis and colitis), as a cholagogue for treatment of the liver and biliary tract. Tansy flowers are an important component of the herbal tea («Очисний-АНТЕА» / “Cleanse-ANTEA”).
