Chokeberry fruit is an excellent multivitamin for the treatment of thyrotoxicosis and hypertension. Chokeberry fruits are effective in the early stages of thyrotoxicosis due to the content of organic iodine compounds. It is prescribed in combination therapy for hypo- and avitaminosis, the initial stages of hypertension, thyrotoxicosis, atherosclerosis.
Similar to mountain ash (Sorbus aucuparia), it is used in hypertension of I – II degrees as an antihypertensive agent, in particular in cerebrovascular lesions.
At the increased bleeding chokeberry normalizes blood coagulation. The effect of the drug is enhanced by simultaneous intake of plants containing ascorbic acid (rose hips, black currant). P-vitaminic compounds of chokeberry fruit bind and excrete radioactive strontium, which is very important in the treatment of radiation sickness.
It is contraindicated in hyperacid gastritis, gastric ulcer, hypotension, thrombosis and thrombophlebitis.
Aronia melanocarpa fruits contain sugars, organic acids, flavonoids, trace elements, vitamins: P, C, PP, K, E, B2, folic acid. They are also rich in iodine (5 – 10 mcg%). Organic iodine compounds, which are present in sufficient quantities in chokeberry, are able to accelerate the excretion of cholesterol and have a positive effect on thyroid function.
* In hypertension, use a half a glass of fresh chokeberry juice on an empty stomach for 15 days.
* Infusion of chokeberry fruit in hypertension: 1 tbsp. of the crushed fruits is brewed with a glass of boiling water, allow to cool. Take half a glass 2-3 times a day before meals.
* Decoction of chokeberry: pour a glass of boiling water with 20 g of the dried crushed fruits, heat in a water bath for 15 minutes. The decoction is cooled and filtered, the fruit is squeezed. Add a boiled water to initial volume. Drink half a glass 3-4 times a day.
