Birch leaves possess diuretic, choleretic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antiseptic, wound healing, antiviral, antifungal and anthelmintic, bactericidal and astringent activities; it is used in all cases when the improvement of health status and metabolism in an organism is necessary.

Birch leaves are taken orally as a diuretic, which has a positive effect on metabolism in the body. Its alcohol tinctures are used to treat chronic inflammatory processes of the bladder, urolithiasis and chronic kidney disease. Infusion of young birch leaves is used as a diuretic in albuminuria. In folk medicine of different countries, birch leaves in the form of decoctions and tinctures are prescribed in diseases of the bladder, urolithiasis, nephropathy.

The diuretic effect of birch in diabetes promotes the excretion of salts and glucose excess.
