Lime blossom (Linden inflorescence) is one of the oldest diaphoretics of folk medicine. Lime tea is consumed hot for colds and coughs, as an analgesic for stomach cramps, as a diuretic for kidney stones; for gout, neurosis, diabetes, vascular crises, menopausal disorders. Linden tea is also recommended for liver disease, hypertension.
Linden inflorescences are the most widely used in scientific medicine in many countries around the world as a diaphoretic, emollient, anti-inflammatory, sedative and diuretic.
Lime blossom is prescribed for inflammation of the upper respiratory tract, functional diseases of the stomach and intestines, as a choleretic. The inflorescences with leaves have a mild sedative effect on the central nervous system.
Poultices or lotions of inflorescences are recommended for burns, ulcers, hemorrhoids, rheumatic and gouty joint pains.
Linden preparations are widely applied in dermatology as emollients and blockers for itchy skin, scratches, insect bites, skin irritations.
The decoction of the flowers is applied to wash the head with hair loss.
* As a diaphoretic and antipyretic: decoction of 2 tbsp. of crushed linden inflorescences in a glass of water, infused for 15 – 20 minutes, take 1 – 2 cups at night in a warm form.
* Lime blossom is used to prepare aromatic baths for insomnia, nervous tension: 100 g of raw material pour 2 liters of cold water, infuse 5 – 10 minutes, then simmer for 5 minutes, infuse 10 minutes more, strain and add to the bath, the duration of which should not exceed 20 minutes.
