{"id":219,"date":"2021-09-16T09:39:03","date_gmt":"2021-09-16T09:39:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.antea.com.ua\/raw\/alteya-likarska\/"},"modified":"2021-11-25T20:41:59","modified_gmt":"2021-11-25T20:41:59","slug":"alteya-likarska","status":"publish","type":"raw","link":"https:\/\/www.antea.com.ua\/en\/raw\/alteya-likarska\/","title":{"rendered":"Marshmallow (Althaea officinalis)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Marshmallow<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a popular perennial medicinal plant, rich in polysaccharides (mucilages).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following data on the use and biological activity were considered for incorporation of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Althaea officinalis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the herbal teas:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plant parts are used as an expectorant in acute and chronic respiratory diseases (bronchitis, tracheitis, laryngitis, bronchopneumonia, bronchial asthma, whooping cough, bronchiectasis, pulmonary tuberculosis with symptoms of nonspecific bronchitis), accompanied by cough with difficulty in sputum production. In inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (gastritis, enterocolitis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, especially accompanied by diarrhea; oesophageal catarrh) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Marshmallow infusion<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is taken as an emmolient, demulcent agent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Marshmallow herb is an ingredient of herbal bath tea, produced by APC \u00abAntea\u00bb, for both internal consumption and flavoring of the bath and phytobarrels &#8220;\u0427\u043e\u043b\u043e\u0432\u0456\u0447\u0430 \u0441\u0438\u043b\u0430 \/ Male Strength&#8221; (125 g in a linen bag and wooden tube).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rinsing with althaea herb infusion is effective in inflammatory processes of the mouth and throat. Externally, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Althaea officinalis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is applied for rinsing the eyes in the eyelid inflammations (blepharitis), as clysters in diarrhea, as well as anti-inflammatory and emollient remedy in the form of poultices (\u00ab\u0410\u043b\u0442\u0415\u0445\u0456\u043d-\u0410\u041d\u0422\u0415\u0410\u00bb \/ \u00abAlthEchin-ANTEA\u00bb).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Althaea has a soothing effect on cough, expectorant, anti-inflammatory, protective emmolient effect on the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as stimulates the immune system. In folk medicine,\u00a0 its infusion\u00a0 is used internally for eczema and psoriasis, inflammation of the bladder, painful involuntary urination and dyspepsia in children, inflammatory processes in the kidneys (\u00ab\u0406\u043c\u0443\u043d\u041f\u043b\u044e\u0441-\u0410\u041d\u0422\u0415\u0410\u00bb \/ \u00abImmunePlus-ANTEA\u00bb).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Althaea officinalis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is widely used in traditional Iranian medicine in the treatment of dysuria.
